About

My name is Bashir Muhammad Idris. Over the past decade, I have worked at the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic development across Sierra Leone. I currently serve as the Senior Manager for Academic Management and Corporate Business Development and also coordinate the Limkokwing Innovation Hub here in Sierra Leone, a World Bank–supported initiative empowering startups through diagnostics, training, and incubation.

My mentoring interest is driven by a commitment to nurturing early-stage entrepreneurs, especially within underrepresented and high-potential ecosystems across Africa. I focus on practical startup development, human-centered product design, and business diagnostics—areas where I believe mentorship has the greatest impact. I’ve worked with institutions such as the UNDP, International Trade Centre (ITC), Save the Children, and Innovation SL to guide founders on strategy, branding, pitch readiness, and scalability.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting founders building solutions in agriculture, education, creative industries, and inclusive tech, and I am eager to contribute my experience to help emerging entrepreneurs avoid common pitfalls and unlock their growth potential.

Mentorship motivation

  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent

I mentor because I believe in the transformative power of entrepreneurship to drive economic inclusion, especially among youth and underserved communities. Having worked extensively across Sierra Leone, I’ve seen firsthand how timely guidance can change the trajectory of a startup or early-stage enterprise.

Mentorship allows me to share the practical knowledge I’ve gained through years of implementing innovation programs, conducting business diagnostics, and supporting enterprise development under initiatives funded by the World Bank, UNDP, and others. It is also a way to give back, to help founders avoid avoidable mistakes, build sustainable models, and develop confidence in navigating complex ecosystems.
