About

I have spent the last decade working in the startup industry. From being the first hire and launcher of startups looking to enter into emerging markets, to eventually becoming a founder myself through Deeptech IP commercialisation with universities and research institutes. I am very interested in emerging markets, with Africa being my main interest. I believe the continent has great capital absorption capabilities with exciting new startups being launched monthly.

I am looking to help founders in the early-stage phase of their journey as I believe this is the most critical phase in the development of a startup. I believe I can add great value in taking them through the process of ideation, validation, finding the right problem and aligning the right solution to solve it, among many other aspects of early-stage startup building.

I am industry agnostic and very happy to work with all startups. I do however have experience in micromobility, logistics, deeptech, health tech and fintech.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent

After years of many failures and successes, I would like to give back to the founders in Africa so they do not make the same errors I made. I get a lot of decks sent to me from Africa and there is a lot I feel I can add to help them get better at what they do and fulfil their dreams of creating great startups. I have lived and worked in 11 countries including Russia and China, this has given me a wealth of knowledge and a vast network I would like to leverage to the benefit of startups and founders in Africa.

It is also a good way for me to stay on top of what innovative business models are coming out of the continent and also connect with the individuals driving the change/innovation.
