About

Hi there! My name is Ivy 👋 and I really, really love to help grow startups/organizations through strategy, fundraising, partnerships, communication, and optimized processes. I have had the privilege of working with some amazing teams in some of the fastest-growing African startups. Working with founders at different stages in dynamic markets (Kenya, Egypt, Tunisia) gave me a bird’s eye view of some of the challenges founders face. Whether it’s knowing how to set your cap table, identifying the right team that grasps your vision, creating compelling slides for investors, or pivoting when it just doesn’t work the average entrepreneur is spread thin and needs support on their journey.
My focus in the last 7 years has been on emerging markets, where founders face unique challenges. Having touched on various sectors (e-mobility, hospitality tech, e-commerce/logistics, and Ed-tech) I believe I have learned a lot along the way to help startups build the kind of culture that sets them up for success, even in the toughest of landscapes.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent

“If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far go together”

As a rising professional in the tech space within African start-ups, the need for passionate mentorship and support became apparent as I navigated through different early and later-stage start-ups. One of the things that also stuck out was the immense data and insights gathered by various start-ups. However, without consolidation points and ways to synergize many founders and organizations go through similar pitfalls that are avoidable through sharing of experiences and lessons learned along the way. I’ve also come to understand that in emerging markets, startups face a unique set of challenges. From navigating regulatory hurdles to understanding local market dynamics, the landscape can be complex and unpredictable. However, it’s precisely in these challenges that opportunities lie.
So, when I say I’m here to help startups build the kind of culture that sets them up for success, I mean it. I’m here to offer guidance, support, and practical advice to help startups navigate the complexities of emerging markets and emerge stronger than ever.
