About

Ghannam is a certified business and strategy consultant and has 15 years of experience in Private Equity, Venture Capital and Direct Investments. He spent the majority of his career in the Private Equity field where he managed a US$ 51mn private equity portfolio at Egypt’s largest private sector bank Commercial International Bank (CIB) including direct investments and funds.

Later, Ghannam played a pivotal role in the creation of CIB’s Corporate Venture Capital firm “CVentures” dedicated to investing in early stage startups in addition to leading the formulation and implementation of CIB’s expansion strategy in Africa which was translated into the establishment of CIB’s representative office in Ethiopia; the bank’s first cross border presence in Africa.

Before joining Flat6Labs, Ghannam was appointed as a Director at CVentures, where he was a senior member of the investment team leading the firm’s portfolio management activities including all aspects of the investment process including deal origination, assessment, execution and business development.

In April 2022, Ghannam joined Flat6Labs as a Principal, the most active startups investor in the MENA region, managing Egypt portfolio and fund operations. Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat

My goal is to advise entrepreneurs on effectively managing their companies to be successful in the competitive marketplace. My vision is to help entrepreneurs to be able to assess capital needs and startups’ investor readiness, providing recommendations on the fundraising strategy and provide guidance on financial models and investor pitch decks and how to work with investors post-investment. Furthermore, working with entrepreneurs is rewarding in terms of impact and value added as I will be able to help them solve critical challenges and make their most important decisions.
