About

Hello, my name is Werner, and I’ve 20+ years work experience in development of technologies in MedTech and EdTech. I have been a university researcher before building two HealthTech and EdTech startups in the last 8 years myself. My main job there was working as a CTO and CPO. I’m interested in Africa and particularly in Latin America, where I live with my family now. I like these emerging and exiting markets, with not so much regulation and therefore more freedom, but at the same time more excitement and uncertainty for startup entrepreneurs.

This is the reason, why I want to help as a mentor and coach. I’m looking to support early-stage startup founders of Tech-Startups in all of their phases, particularly in developing the first (or second) MVP, preparing the company structure for future growth and everything around product development. I am working with cognitive methods and strategic thinking concepts.

I am totally convinced that startups should work with experienced CTOs and CPOs from the very beginning. If a full-time CTO/CPO is too costly, a part-time or fractional CTO/CPO would be sufficient. I think to employ a full-time young CTO, who is doing that job for the first time, is a high risk for a startup. I want to help startups to find a good (fractional) CTO/CPO and a proper development team, before they choose to contract a software agency and loose their IP and assets to a foreign company.

My interests are to mentor in Software-Startups, in EdTech, HealthTech, MedTech and all other Tech-Startups that are planning for internationalization.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat
  • Other

I want to help tech startups avoid the same mistakes I did. One of my startups is very successful; another has vanished because of some problems and mistakes I made.

Based on my own experiences, I want to help other young entrepreneurs. I want that startups have a strong technology roadmap and the best product strategy from the very beginning.
