I am interested in mentoring because I believe strongly in knowledge transfer as a tool for sustainable development, especially within the agricultural and agribusiness sectors. With my background in Animal Production and Health from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and over five years of hands-on experience across poultry, piggery, and farm management systems, I have seen how access to the right guidance can transform ideas into viable, profitable, and impactful ventures. My interest in mentoring is driven by a desire to support young professionals, farmers, and agripreneurs in avoiding common mistakes, adopting best practices, and embracing innovation early. I have worked in both operational and managerial roles, which has helped me understand the realities of farm-level challenges, business constraints, and decision-making under limited resources. These experiences motivate me to mentor others in building resilient agricultural systems that combine science, technology, and sound business principles. My focus areas include livestock production and health management, farm business planning and feasibility analysis, sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, and the integration of technology and data-driven decision-making into traditional farming systems. I am also particularly interested in capacity building—helping mentees develop critical thinking, leadership skills, and a problem-solving mindset needed to scale agricultural enterprises responsibly. Ultimately, mentoring allows me to contribute to food security, job creation, and youth empowerment by helping others unlock their potential and translate agricultural knowledge into real-world impact.
I mentor because I see mentorship as a powerful way to give back to the startup ecosystem while also staying actively engaged with innovation and growth. Having worked across agriculture, agribusiness, and consultancy, I understand how challenging the early stages of building a business can be, especially in environments with limited access to capital, technical expertise, and strategic guidance. Mentoring allows me to support emerging entrepreneurs with practical insights that can help them avoid costly mistakes and build sustainable, scalable ventures.
Beyond giving back, mentoring aligns with my interest in learning continuously about new industries, business models, and technologies. Engaging with founders exposes me to fresh ideas and evolving markets, which strengthens my own perspective as a consultant and agribusiness professional. It also creates opportunities to identify promising ventures for potential investment, advisory roles, or board participation where my expertise can add real value.
I am equally motivated by the relationships mentorship fosters. Building meaningful connections with founders, fellow mentors, and ecosystem stakeholders expands both my personal and professional network, while creating pathways for collaboration between startups and the organizations I represent. Overall, I mentor to create mutual value—helping entrepreneurs grow while discovering new opportunities to contribute, learn, invest, and collaborate in impactful ways.
