About

I am a startup lawyer with over six years of experience in startup law and innovation. My interest in mentoring stems from my passion for helping early-stage startups navigate the complex legal landscape, ensuring they have a solid foundation to grow and succeed.

I am particularly focused on supporting startups in the areas of legal structuring, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation. My goal is to provide practical legal guidance that empowers founders to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and seize opportunities.

In addition to my legal expertise, I am deeply interested in fostering innovation within the startup ecosystem, especially in emerging markets like Africa because it where I am from and I have experience in real time the challenges founders face in navigating the space. I believe these regions present unique and exciting opportunities for growth and development.

By mentoring early-stage startup founders, I aim to share my knowledge and experience to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. My specific interests include legal issues related to technology startups, innovation-driven ventures, and businesses operating in dynamic and rapidly evolving industries like the fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat
  • Other

On a personal level, as an entrepreneur myself, I understand the challenges of starting a business without adequate guidance. When I embarked on my own entrepreneurial journey, I lacked the mentorship that could have made a significant difference. This experience has deeply influenced my commitment to mentoring others.

Having provided legal services to numerous founders, I’ve seen the critical role that mentorship can play in navigating the early stages of a startup. I believe that beyond offering legal support, there’s a need to provide holistic guidance that addresses the broader challenges entrepreneurs face.

Mentoring allows me to give back to the startup ecosystem by sharing the insights and knowledge I’ve gained throughout my career. I have a favourite saying that true education comes from encountering differences, i believe this offers an opportunity to learn about new industries and innovative businesses, which can lead to discovering exciting investment opportunities and potential advisory roles.

Moreover, mentoring helps me build valuable connections within the entrepreneurial community, fostering collaborations and mutual growth. By supporting emerging founders, I aim to contribute to their success and enrich the startup ecosystem as a whole.
