My interest in mentoring comes from my own experience navigating the challenges of professional growth and entrepreneurship. I value the guidance that helps transform ideas into real opportunities. Many promising youth and women struggle with limited access to capital, networks, training, and mentorship. I see mentoring as a powerful way to help them unlock their potential while I continue learning from new ideas, industries, and innovators shaping the future. It’s also a chance to give back to the ecosystem, foster inclusive innovation, and support purpose-driven leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs who are creating sustainable impact within their communities.
As a public health professional and entrepreneur, my career has always been driven by a commitment to empowerment, innovation, and sustainable impact. Over the years, I have worked across the fields of health provider, global health, youth development, and entrepreneurship—spaces where I’ve seen firsthand how mentorship can transform ideas into action. For me, mentoring represents one of the most powerful and impactful ways to accelerate growth and build resilient, purpose-driven leaders who can drive change within their communities.
My passion for mentorship comes from both personal experience and professional observation. Having navigated the challenges of building a career in complex, evolving environments, I understand how essential guidance, networks, and encouragement can be. Many talented individuals—especially youth and women in the Global South—face structural barriers that limit their potential. Whether it’s lack of access to education, vocational training, funding, limited visibility, or insufficient mentorship opportunities, these challenges often hinder the growth of promising ventures. I believe that experienced professionals like myself have a responsibility to bridge that gap by sharing insights, resources, and encouragement.
I am particularly passionate about supporting youth and female entrepreneurs in science, technology, and innovation (STI). These areas are vital for shaping the future of our economies and solving pressing global challenges. Yet, women and young innovators often remain underrepresented in these spaces. By providing mentorship, I aim to help them strengthen their confidence, refine their ideas, and develop the leadership and business skills needed to thrive. I’ve seen that when young women and entrepreneurs are equipped with the right tools and networks, they not only succeed individually but also create ripple effects of empowerment across their communities.
Mentorship, in my view, is about much more than advice—it’s about fostering resilience, self-belief, and strategic vision. I aim to create a supportive space where mentees can explore their ambitions, identify opportunities, and navigate challenges strategically with clarity and confidence. Through my background in global health and consulting, I bring a systems-level perspective that helps entrepreneurs think critically about how their ventures fit into broader social and economic contexts. My approach combines empathy with strategic guidance, helping mentees build both the mindset and skill set needed to sustain impact over time.
At this stage of my journey, I see mentorship as a two-way exchange. While I’m eager to give back to the startup ecosystem and help shape emerging leaders, I’m also excited about the opportunity to continue learning new skills and approaches in the mentorship environment. Engaging with founders through VC4A will allow me to stay connected to new industries, evolving business models, and innovative approaches emerging across the Global South. As someone currently exploring new investment opportunities, I’m particularly interested in early-stage ventures that address critical challenges in health, education, youth development, sustainability, and inclusive development. I see mentorship as a way to both support and learn from entrepreneurs who are creating value at the intersection of innovation and impact.
The entrepreneurial landscape in the Global South is full of creativity, resilience, and potential. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside individuals and organizations developing groundbreaking solutions to local and global problems. Yet, despite this promise, many founders struggle with access—to mentors, investors, and ecosystems that nurture their growth. By joining VC4A’s mentorship community, I hope to help bridge these gaps and contribute to a stronger, more connected network that enables founders to succeed on their own terms.
Finally, being part of a network of mentors who share a passion for supporting entrepreneurs across Africa and other emerging regions is both a privilege and a learning opportunity.
