Emily Addonizio

I’m Emily Addonizio, a development professional with a decade of hands-on experience at the intersection of climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, humanitarian assistance, and food systems innovation. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of helping UN agencies and INGOs design evidence-based programs, secure funding, coordinate multi-stakeholder events, lead rigorous evaluations, and build capacity among communities and institutions alike.

I’m interested in mentoring because I believe early-stage social enterprises and nonprofit startups have enormous potential to drive meaningful change — especially those focused on climate adaptation, food security, and sustainable development. I want to help founders sharpen their ideas, craft strong proposals, build resilient program models, and navigate the complexity of scaling impact in resource-constrained environments.

My focus areas include: designing programs that marry climate resilience with agriculture (e.g. agroecology, regenerative practices), embedding sustainable food systems in humanitarian responses, evidence-based monitoring & evaluation, and green finance / grant readiness. I also enjoy helping founders across regions — especially Africa and Asia — who are in their proof-of-concept or early growth stages. I believe mentoring at these critical phases is where strategic guidance can catalyze long-term impact.

I mentor because I want to give back to the startup ecosystem, drawing on my experience in agriculture, food systems, climate resilience, and humanitarian innovation to support entrepreneurs as they navigate early challenges and opportunities. Mentorship also allows me to scout for new opportunities to engage more deeply, whether as an advisor or in a board capacity, where I can contribute to shaping impactful strategies and governance structures. Finally, I value mentorship as a way to build meaningful connections with innovative founders and fellow ecosystem actors, both for my own professional growth and for the organizations I collaborate with, creating synergies that strengthen the broader entrepreneurial landscape.
