About

Previously trained and served as a Mentor for Employers including World Learning Inc., Uganda Red Cross Society, Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (JHU). Was JHU Gold Interns Mentor in 2010/2011. This experience inspires me to provide requisite services. Further, I am an enthusiast in women empowerment and development and keen to continue serving in mentorship role, sharing rich knowledge and experience and contributing to building a cadre of global women achievers. Previous contribution in this arena is demonstrated by awards such as the Kampala Capital City Certificate of Recognition in empowering women and the Golden Jubilee Award presented to me on International Women’s day in 2020.

Interest is centered around supporting women to achieve economic empowerment through setting up and building businesses to last. Such is anchored on a number of factors highlighted here not in any chronological manner; enthusiasm, self-discovery, establishing one’s interest and niche, passion, identifying and exploring opportunity, business acumen, research, adventure and risk taking and determination and hard work. Research has it that Economic Empowerment is a cornerstone to prevention and management of Gender Based Violence. Poverty on the part of the woman is a recipe for mistreatment at household level especially in this “post” Covid -19 era, marked with economic hardships at all levels-household to global. Indeed Research was strong on escalating levels of domestic violence during peaks of Covid-19 (2020 to 2022). It is a known that women are at the forefront in providing the basics in life at household level (Food, clothing, school fees etc). Strong interest in ensuring businesses of especially the women, run strong speaks to importance of the financial role women play in homes in most of the societies of today- the Cultural, Biblical/other religious teachings which guide that head of house and bread provider is the male spouse seems a yesterday thing.

Mentorship motivation

  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up

Further to the explanation provided in above response (Interest and focus); Giving back is engrained in my upbringing; strengthened by the schooling and learning I opted for such as B.A Degree in Social Work and Social Administration and the recent Master in Global Bioethics- all which emphasized equity, problem solving, equality, inclusion and ethical principles such as fairness, do no harm, beneficence, the need for the rich to pay for their misdeeds such as environmental harm- through pollution by industrialized communities.

Mentoring role is also opportunity to encourage, share experience and the “Never Give Up” ideology (motto of my High School- Gayaza High School).
