I developed a passion for mentorship after I took the opportunity to work as a field monitor for the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge Fund where I monitored 45 Grants beneficiary Private Sector Organizations (PSO) in Central, Western, and Western North Regions of Ghana, worked with the Grantees and Service Providers to develop project activities and implementation plan, monitored closely the implementation of Grantee project activities, tracked and reported project output and outcomes results on monthly basis and built capacity of 30 Grants beneficiary grantees in financial management and building of strong association. The experience I had from this job taught me a lot about giving a helping hand to many deprived, struggling entrepreneurs and people who are eager to start something on their own but have no idea where to start. This passion for mentorship was strengthened when I had the opportunity to work with World University Services of Canada as an Economic Development Specialist where I also had the opportunity to assist in formalizing 67 entrepreneurs in Wassa East District and Prestea Huni Valley Municipal, creating market linkages for 12 youth and women entrepreneurs and mentored and coached three entrepreneurs (two women and one man) to attain Food and Drug Authority certification. The above experience and other experiences such as my work with United Nations Capital Development Funds as a Junior Analyst, Inclusive Digital Economies, and Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a Finance and Administration for five years. I am ready to offer any assistance to less privileged, start-up, struggling businesses and others who need advice to succeed.
Personal Fulfillment: Mentoring provides a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Witnessing a mentee’s growth and success is rewarding.
The following are what is motivating me to become a mentor.
1. I want to also learn from my mentees through the exchange of ideas to help me enrich my knowledge and perspective.
2. I wish to use mentorship relationships to expand my networks by connecting with mentees, and other professionals, and potentially open doors to new opportunities.
3. Being a positive influence on someone’s life leaves a lasting impact that will contribute to the development of future leaders.
4. Mentorship will enhance my leadership and communication skills, making them better professionals.
