About

Hala Barakat graduated from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. From there, she took off her career in international banking and finance, later shifting to production and retailing. Being an entrepreneur herself, she was directly involved in all the ups and downs of the business world. This has enabled her to guide and mentor young entrepreneurs in different fields.
Later, she obtained her Master’s degree in Economics in International Development from the American University in Cairo in 2016; and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Euro-Mediterranean Studies at Cairo University. After graduation, she started providing education-for-employment training and workshops in entrepreneurship and other related fields. Before long, she found out that her longstanding interest in education and entrepreneurship development had grown into a lasting passion to serve this ecosystem.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat

I would love to support young entrepreneurs in growing through their journeys and giving back to my community.
