Hello I am Johan de Meyer
My interest in mentoring and coaching is driven by a commitment to seeing people and projects actually work in the real world. I’ve found that the most meaningful growth doesn’t come from a textbook, but from hands-on experience and a steady, objective perspective. I’m interested in the “how” as much as the “why.” I see mentoring as a way to bridge the gap between a vision and its execution.
Focus Areas and Interests:
Localized Entrepreneurship: I’m focused on the mechanics of small business in a local context—specifically how to build sustainable models that resonate with the community. This includes everything from refining brand identity to building loyalty programs that prioritize repeat local engagement. I believe in growth that is organic but professionally managed.
Strategic Transitions: I am drawn to helping people navigate “pivot points.” This could be scaling a hobby into a high-end workshop series, or transitioning into a leadership role within a social enterprise.
Social Impact & Community Resilience: My focus is on projects that are grounded in the reality of their surroundings but maintain a high professional standard. I want to see local initiatives succeed by being as business-savvy as they are mission-driven.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic and the health complications of its extended aftermath in my personal life, I’ve had to reinvent myself and my career. I emerged from that process as a life coach because I realized that the one thing AI cannot do for us is provide validation, personal witness, and true human accompaniment. While we can use AI for many practical solutions, getting past imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and self-sabotage often requires the presence of another human being to watch us grow and mature. Through my own reinvention, I’ve discovered that this personal connection is what gives my life meaning. Giving back to the startup ecosystem provides me with tremendous joy and purpose, and I do my utmost to bring that same sense of joy and purpose to the entrepreneurs I work with.
