I am a neuroscientist by training and have spent most of my professional life working in Biotechnology and Health Care. However, I also hold an MBA from the University of Michigan, and sit on the executive committee for a large angel investing group based in New York, which gives me an opportunity to meet with entrepreneurs, screen business plans and structure deals for our membership of investors.
I first became involved with African markets 20+ years ago as an advisor to a professional advocacy group called The African Society for Toxicological Sciences. More recently, I traveled to Addis Ababa to conduct market research on behalf a biotechnology company based in Boston and MOST recently joined a small Africa-focused venture fund (Ajim Capital) as a limited partner. The fund, which was founded by an African-born entrepreneur, will focus on tech-enabled companies across Sub Saharan Africa (largely industry agnostic).
Although my technical background is in heath care, I have a strong understanding of start-up business plans, market assessment and various funding structures. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions. Best of Luck!
I am interested in meeting and working with inspired African entrepreneurs while also contributing to economic growth on the continent. While scouting for investments is not my primary motivation, I am also open to opportunities to collaborate with companies that may be fit within the investing thesis of Ajim Capital.
