I am interested in mentoring because it allows me to give back to the entrepreneurial ecosystem while staying actively engaged with emerging industries and innovative business models. With over a decade of experience in agribusiness, biotechnology, and sustainable venture development, I have had the opportunity to lead and scale initiatives such as commercial seaweed farming in Sri Lanka and multiple export-oriented value chains . These experiences have given me practical insight into building resilient, market-driven businesses, which I am keen to share with early-stage founders. My focus areas include sustainable agriculture, aquaculture (particularly seaweed and blue economy), food systems, climate-resilient technologies, and value-added export businesses. I am especially interested in ventures that combine commercial viability with measurable environmental and social impact. Beyond supporting founders, mentoring enables me to identify promising investment opportunities and engage with startups as an advisor or board member where I can add strategic value. I also see mentorship as a two-way learning process—offering guidance on business strategy, operations, partnerships, and market access, while gaining fresh perspectives on innovation and evolving global trends. Ultimately, I am driven by the opportunity to help build scalable, impact-driven enterprises that contribute to sustainable economic growth.
I mentor to give back to the startup ecosystem by sharing the practical experience I’ve gained in building and scaling ventures across agriculture, biotechnology, and sustainable industries. Having led pioneering initiatives such as commercial seaweed farming in Sri Lanka and working with global development agencies, I understand both the opportunities and challenges entrepreneurs face .
Mentorship also allows me to stay at the forefront of emerging industries and business models. I am particularly interested in discovering innovative, impact-driven ventures where I can potentially engage further—as an investor, advisor, or board member.
Equally important, mentoring helps me build meaningful connections with founders, co-investors, and ecosystem players. I see it as a two-way learning process—while I support entrepreneurs in refining strategy, scaling operations, and accessing markets, I also gain fresh perspectives and insights into new technologies and trends.
Ultimately, I mentor because I believe in enabling sustainable, scalable businesses that create real economic and social impact.
