Interested in interesting businesses, and supporting the visionaries that lead them.
Hi! I am an independent strategy consultant and business school lecturer with 15+ years of experience working with senior leaders to redefine, grow and transform their businesses. Originally from the UK, I’ve lived in South Africa for 10 years and have worked in 10 different African countries. From an industry perspective, I am predominantly focused on healthcare (delivery, pharma, medical devices, and healthtech), with secondary experience in manufacturing, automotive and education. Key technical strengths are in value proposition definition, growth strategy, market entry, commercial due diligence, and coaching.
Alongside my independent consulting work, I lecture at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business for the MBA, PGDip and MiM programmes and have published papers in top journals on the theme of doing business in Africa.
I am looking to play a mentoring role for founders with impactful ideas. To be an effective mentor to you, I will be looking for three things: 1) that we can connect on a personal level, 2) that you can clearly articulate your ambition and end goal (even if the precise means to get there is still a little fuzzy), and 3) that I am confident I have the capacity and skills to play a meaningful role in your personal and business growth.
Note that I am not always in Johannesburg therefore most meetings will be online. If I decline your request, please do not take it personally, it is highly likely to be a capacity constraint.
After 15 years of consulting for predominantly executive level in large organisations, I’ve grown a little tired of corporate dysfunction and inaction. I moved to Africa 10 years ago with the belief that great things were going to happen here. I want to apply what I’ve learnt in my consulting work to support African founders that will go on to do those great things.
