I am interested in Mentoring because it is a unique opportunity to step outside your normal circle of colleagues and to learn how to collaborate with people to whom you don’t have a natural connection, demonstrating patience with those who need your guidance or support and helping people finding the best path forward. The purpose of mentoring is to grow by tapping into the knowledge and experience of someone further along than yourself. It’s the best way to accelerate your development. I am an experienced, goal-oriented Agricultural/Environmental Engineer with more than thirty years of experience in the agricultural/environmental engineering industry. I have experience working in private, public and international organizations and have a strong track record of motivating teams and delivering successful results. I have a proven ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including clients and partners. My focus areas are: Natural Resource Management, Renewable Energy Technologies, and Environmental Conservation.

I believe good mentors are passionate about helping and developing their mentees and receive their rewards not in the form of money or other paybacks, but in seeing the people they have helped grow and become successful.
One of the most important aspects of mentoring is accountability. Whenever a mentee has goals to achieve, their mentor helps them focus and stay on the path. A good mentor should already have been where the mentee still wants to go. A kind of “blueprint” and own experiences is what a mentor provides his mentee to help guide him towards his specific goal. And a lot of trust on both sides is required to share experiences and feelings.
So, the motivation for mentoring and what you get out of it might be similar for the mentee as well as for the mentor: become a better leader and gain new perspectives and fresh ideas!
