About

I am interested in mentoring through VC4A because Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem requires not only capital, but experienced operators who understand how to structure, finance and scale responsibly across complex markets. I have spent over two decades working across African business, media and development finance, engaging with founders, investors and policymakers across more than 20 countries. I see mentorship as a way to transfer practical market intelligence and disciplined execution thinking to the next generation of builders.

My focus areas include infrastructure and energy transition (including Energy-as-a-Service models), sustainable development finance, cross-border expansion strategy, capital structuring, and investor readiness. I am particularly interested in ventures operating in emerging markets where regulatory navigation, stakeholder alignment and long-term capital design are critical to success.

I mentor with a bias toward clarity: sharpening value propositions, strengthening governance, stress-testing financial models, and ensuring founders are capital-efficient rather than capital-dependent. My goal is to help founders build resilient, investable businesses that can scale sustainably across Africa.

Mentorship motivation

  • I am looking for new investments
  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat

Mentorship provides visibility into emerging industries, new business models and innovative founders early in their journey. I am actively interested in identifying credible investment opportunities where capital and strategic input can accelerate growth responsibly.

I also see mentorship as a disciplined way to scout for advisory or board-level engagement. Founders often need structured governance, strategic oversight and access to networks as they scale. Where there is strong alignment, I am open to deeper involvement.

Finally, mentoring expands high-quality relationships — both personally and for the organisations I represent. Strong ecosystems are built on trust, and mentorship creates that trust at an early stage.
