Rashid Ali Rashid

I am a co-founder and Managing Director of a climate-smart innovative agriculture startup called Aatif Aquaponics Limited.
I have BBA undergraduate degree from Zanzibar University, and a graduate degree in MSc, International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee, Scotland through Chevening Award program.
I have a professional working experience of over 12 years in different sectors including hospitality, health, finance and agriculture.
I was always enthusiastic about smart farming and I got my first test when I started working at a small hydroponic farms in Scotland.
Upon returning to Zanzibar, I envisioned founding my own hydroponics and/or farm in Zanzibar and went to realize this vision by co-founding Aatif Aquaponics Limited in the year 2018.
in the last 5 years, we have grown our company from a two person company to 16 staff startup company, build the largest hydroponics farm in Tanzania, raised awareness to smart farming practices and techniques to multiple youths, communities and government agencies, raises capital to scale company and established strong presence in the hospitality market in Zanzibar.

I believe in lifting more youth to reach their peak potential. I have observed many youth being content in their lives rather than improving them. I hope to help them rediscover their passion and use that passion to make it a livelihood reality.
