About

Hello!

I am Taiwo Sowemimo, a leadership coach, speaker and trainer with over a decade of experience in transformational leadership, change management and organizational development. My career includes leading complex transformations and business advisory projects at General Electric (GE), where I received multiple awards for leadership and operational excellence.

I am passionate about mentoring, especially in empowering female entrepreneurs across Africa. My belief in the transformative power of guidance and support drives my mentoring interest, fostering sustainable growth and success.

As the Founder and Principal Consultant at Purpose Bay, I help individuals optimize their potential through actionable insights and personalized recommendations. My commitment to empowerment extends beyond corporate settings, demonstrated by my work with the She Leads Africa Community and the Fate Foundation’s Orange Corners Nigeria incubation program, where I have provided invaluable skills and insights to aspiring entrepreuners and business leaders.

I am particularly interested in mentoring within the She Wins Africa 2024 program because it aligns perfectly with my mission to support female-led startups across Africa. By participating in this program, I aim to help bridge the funding gap between women and men entrepreneurs, discover new investment opportunities and expand my network. My focus areas include strategic planning, change management and leadership development, crucial for the success of any startup.

I look forward to connecting with and mentoring a high-potential female entrepreneur, helping her navigate the challenges of scaling her business and achieving sustainable growth. Together, we can significantly impact the entrepreneurial landscape in Africa.

Mentorship motivation

  • I like to learn about industries and new businesses
  • I want to give back to the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurs coming up
  • I want to make new connections for myself and/or the organization I represent
  • I want to scout for new opportunities in engaging as an advisor or for a board seat

I mentor because I believe in the profound impact of empowerment and guidance on the journey of entrepreneurship.

My motivations are rooted in a commitment to giving back to the startup ecosystem and supporting emerging entrepreneurs as they navigate the challenges of building sustainable businesses.

Through mentoring, I not only contribute to the growth and success of startups but also continuously expand my knowledge of diverse industries and innovative business models. This allows me to stay at the forefront of industry trends and uncover new opportunities where I can add strategic value as an advisor or board member.

Moreover, mentoring provides a platform for me to forge meaningful connections, both for personal growth and to enhance the network of the organizations I represent. These connections often lead to collaborations that drive positive change and innovation within the entrepreneurial landscape.
